Eating Disorders

We use Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) as the basis for our approach to helping clients with disordered eating patterns focusing on changing the subconscious thought and behaviour patterns that sustain disordered eating.

NLP differs from traditional therapies by emphasizing how individuals think and behave around food and body image, rather than only exploring why these issues exist.

An eating disorder is often defined as a mental health condition characterized by persistent disturbed and negative eating behaviours and distressing thoughts and emotions centred around food, weight, and body image.

We will help individuals not only eliminate disordered eating behaviours but also learn to function as someone without an eating disorder would - developing natural, healthy attitudes toward food and body image.

The commonly recognised eating disorders include:

Anorexia, essentially an intense fear of gaining weight leading to a distorted body image, severe restriction of food intake leading to significantly low body weight.

Bulimia, recurrent episodes of binge eating followed by compensatory behaviours like purging laxative abuse, fasting, or excessive exercise to prevent weight gain.

Binge Eating Disorder, recurrent/constant episodes of consuming an excessive amount of food while feeling a loss of control, but without compensatory behaviour's. Key aspects of eating disorders include an excessive preoccupation with food, weight and body shape, accompanied by disturbances in how individuals experience their body weight and shape.

Eating disorders can lead to serious physical and psychological complications if left untreated.

We use a full range of NLP and Time Line techniques that we can employ to help you deal more effectively with the root causes of your Eating Disorder, help you control your responses and change whatever behaviours may need to change.
